What Are Trailheads?

Follow the 'White Rabbit' of your emotions to discover hidden parts of yourself.

Video Lesson

In IFS, a trailhead is any emotion, thought, body sensation, or behavior that serves as an entry point into your internal system.

Think of it like a trail in a forest. When you notice a sudden flare of anger, a tight knot in your stomach, or a recurring self-critical thought, you’ve found a trailhead. By following it with curiosity, you can find the specific part that is carrying that feeling.

How Trailheads Help Us:

  • Entry Points: They are designed to help us connect with different parts of ourselves, uncovering their thoughts, feelings, and needs.
  • Gaining Insights: By engaging with trailheads, we can gain insights into our internal dynamics and identify patterns.
  • Tools for Growth: Essentially, they're tools that support us in our journey of self-discovery and growth.

"Trailheads can be any topic that sparks your curiosity, or any challenge that you would like to explore more deeply. Like the White Rabbit in Alice's story!"

You can use the IFS Guide app to navigate through trailheads, uncover the thoughts and feelings behind your parts, and track them to better understand your internal world.
